武术的英文要大写吗
Does “Wushu” Need to Be Capitalized?
Wushu is a traditional Chinese martial art that has become quite popular around the world However it is often spelled in different ways and may be capitalized or not in different contexts So does “wushu” need to be capitalized? It depends on how and where it is used
In general when referring to the art or practice of wushu as a whole it is usually capitalized For example you might say “Wushu is a beautiful and powerful martial art that requires years of dedicated practice to master” In this case “Wushu” is a proper noun and should be capitalized like any other name of a specific thing or concept
However when referring to individual techniques styles or schools within the broader category of wushu it is usually not capitalized For example you might say “I am learning bagua zhang which is a form of wushu that specializes in circular movements” In this case “wushu” is being used more generically as a category of martial arts and so it does not need to be capitalized
